from Germany to Czechia
CZECH.REP. : Pláně - a settlement, part of the township of Všeruby in the Domažlice District in the Pilsen Region.
Pláně (Ploss)
Remains of a village south-east of Všerub on the road to Nýrsko. Pláně is one of the oldest settlements in the region, probably founded in the first half of the 14th century. Until 1707 it was a frontier settlement. In that year, the border was moved about 2 km further, which brought nearby Sruby into Czech territory. During the 17th-18th centuries, the original Czech settlement completely displaced the German settlement. Before the war there were 24 homesteads here. After the war, the German population was expelled and after 1948 Pláně became an inaccessible settlement close to the border barriers. Today, the last four houses survive.
Period of disappearance: gradually after 1945; Reason for disappearance: border zone
