Black stork nests in Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship (Poland)

Monitoring of 21 black stork Ciconia nigra nests in Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, Poland - 2025

SEASON 2024 https://www.ciconianigra.sk/viewtopic.php?f=121&t=208

A group of people associated with Eagle Conservation Committee unit (Komitet Ochrony Orłów - KOO) from Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship in Poland prepared monitoring of 21 black stork nests located in this voivodeship.

The monitoring devices that were installed near black storks nests will record the data till autumn.
Six of those devices offer MMS via e-mail review picture send function. I will try to share with you the news received from them and, after the season, also from the other ones.

And on 9/03/2025 a black stork arrived to the nest

There are records that s/he visited the nest also on 10, 11, 14 and 15/04/2025
After that time there are no signs of any stork

But on 09/05/2025 at least a great spotted woodpecker (Dendrocopos major) showed up

It appears that this black stork is ringed - for now unreadable, but we'll see on the data directly from camera traps if it can be identified

A pair is present - an attempt to copulating
But is this an other ringed stork? It looks like that this one has a ring on its metatarsus but it may be only an optical illusion - the data directly from the camera trap will tell with 100% certainty
