14.20 Feeding attempt? Chick is hidden behind moss and I can't see if it ate anything. Kerli takes back the regurgitated food quite quickly.

It started to rain again.

15.08 FEEDING (3) Chick managed to swallow a small frog.
15.52 Kerli aerates the nest. No feeding.

17.26 KERGU arrives.
Kerli flies out.
Kergu covers the chick and eggs, no feeding now.

21.46 Kergu stands, aerates the nest and rolls the eggs. Chick is begging for food. Kergu doesn't feed now. It seems to me that last feeding took place at 15.08

JUNE 16

Hello.

08.02. Kergu stands up and leaves the nest. KERLI lands from above.
Little chick hasn't gotten any food from Kergu since yesterday. It is already very hungry and actively begging and chirping.

08.02 FEEDING (1) Kerli offers a pile of frogs and smaller objects (fish?). Chick is eager to bite and swallow anything that fits in its little mouth. A good breakfast for the chick, it manages to eat several pieces of food. Chick is satisfied after feeding


08.07 Kergu brings moss and Kerli settles down to warm the brood.
08.19 Kergu brings more material.

08.49 FEEDING (2) A small pile of food. Chick eats a little.


09.35 FEEDING (3) A small pile of frogs. Chick eats a little. Its neck is already thick
10.37 FEEDING (4) Same situation as previous. Chick eats a little.
Kerli still has quite a few frogs to eat back, so there will be plenty of food to offer for later.

11.26 KERGU arrives. He covers the brood, no feeding now.
11.29 Kerli brings moss.
11.32 Kerli brings more moss.
She lays it nicely around Kergu and stays to nibble Kergu's head

11.37 Kerli flies out.
11.45 Kerli brings moss.
Kergu stands up and they exchange some kind of conversation. Kerli takes over nest duty.

11.57 Kergu jumps on the upper branch and flies away.

12.21 FEEDING (5)

14.28 KERGU is back.
Kerli flies away.

14.30 FEEDING (6) Kergu regurgitates 2 larger pikes and a smaller pile of food. I can also see frogs in there, chick manages to swallow a few of them.

16.08 FEEDING (7) Kergu spills a single frog. Chick tries to eat it, but as there is a tall moss wall covering the view, it is not clear if chick swallowed it or not. I tend to think that this was an unsuccessful feeding. A few minutes later one of the bigger fish came out, chick could not take any pieces of it.

17.14 FEEDING (8) A pile of soft fish. Chick pecks and manages to eat some pieces.

18.59 FEEDING (9) Chick eats a little.

There are still 2 eggs. I haven't heard any new egg talking yet! (Nice stretching Kergu )


19.51 Kergu tries to feed the chick. It isn't very interested yet.

19.59 KERLI arrives. She again lands from above with high speed!
Kergu flies out, Kerli takes over nest duty.

20.00 FEEDING (11) Kerli spills some small frogs and possibly small fish. Some frogs jump away as soon as they are regurgitated! Chick still eats some of them and is satisfied after.

I think I hear egg talk after all

JUNE 17

05.52 KERGU arrives to the nest.
05.54 Feeding, but Kergu brought big fish that chick can't eat.
Kergu eats the fish and covers the brood.

06.44 Next feeding attempt. Fish is not yet soft enough.
07.20 Next feeding attempt.

09.00 FEEDING (1) Finally the fish is soft now and chick manages to eat a nice breakfast.

09.47 KERLI arrives.
09.48 FEEDING (2) Kerli brought smaller food- frogs and small fish.

09.52 + 09.54 Kergu brought material.
09.57 Kergu brought a twig. He puts it into a place and flies away.
