Kergu has done an good job over the last 48 hours. The nest is renovated - some new stick, twigs and a thick layer of green moss is the best welcome gift for Kerli, providing not only a visual beacon for her arrival but also much-needed thermal insulation for the freezing night ahead.

It is very likely that Kerli is already in the area. Just like Kergu, her first priority after such a long and cold journey will be refueling. Given the hormonal drive and the need to recover energy for the breeding season, she is probably foraging in nearby streams before settling on the nest for the night.

Kerli is likely prioritizing self-maintenance (foraging) right now to offset the energy loss from the final 180 km stretch. After battling headwinds in previous days, reaching the home range is a huge success. The current 8°C in Estonia is manageable for her as long as she finds food before the freezing night temperatures set in.

Kerli covered 194 km today but decided to settle for the night right at the Estonian border. She is likely resting after a long flight in chilly conditions. The final sprint to the nest will happen presumably tomorrow morning - it is already only about 60 km as the crow flies.

(160–180 kilometres - false calculation by AI geminin chat and so not the best prediction of her arrival today  ; 250km is the distance for today/from yesterday night spot to the nest area)

Today's weather was far from optimal for migration. We can expect her arrival maybe around midday - the morning will be chilli.

Kergu was mostly at the nest (some moss delivery). He repeatedly called time to time. Kergu flew away at 13:12:20.

If Kerli managed to find food at her roosting site (Dzērves purvs) despite the freezing morning (-3°C), she could arrive at the nest between 14:00 and 16:00 Estonian = camera time
Since the morning was frosty and hunting was likely difficult, she probably skipped breakfast and stopped to feed somewhere along the route once the sun warmed the waters. In this case, her arrival at the nest is more likely between 17:00 and 18:00
Will see - fingers crossed, safe fly!
