It’s interesting that Natalio keeps sitting back down in the same position and direction. Usually, after tending to the nest (and the egg), storks change their position or the direction they face before settling back down. In terms of anatomy, due to the structure of their legs, they are actually kneeling rather than sitting.
What we see as a 'backward-bending knee' is actually the inter-tarsal joint (the ankle). Storks have their true knees hidden higher up, , tucked under their feathers.
