CHICKS
- 1st chick: 73 days old,
- 2nd chick: 72 days old,
- 3rd chick: 70 days old
Egg 4: Laid 07 April - unhatched
Stork chicks grow exponentially. 90 days in the nest is like 18-21 years for humans. This means that 1 day in the nest is like almost 3 months for a human child. That is why their transformation is so amazing and fast.
Maiden flight (general data):
- Chicks become capable of flight at the age of 68–72 days.
- Fledging depends on several environmental factors.
- Chicks that stay longer in the nest after fledging have higher survival rates.
Maiden flight data for this nest (Zica & Natalio):
- 2025: 69 days old (accidental flight)
- 2024: 69 days old (forced by attack)

Nest Activity Log
07:40 – Maiden flight: The youngest storklet (Chick #3) took off from the edge of the nest, marking the first fledge of the season from this nest. Its siblings stood up in surprise as it departed.
08:23:56 – A black stork (likely the fledged chick) was spotted flying in the upper corner of the camera view.
08:32 – The two remaining storklets began calling for their parents.
08:43:46 – A black stork was observed in flight near the nest.
08:44:14 – The fledged storklet returned and made a successful, skillful landing back onto the nest.
08:44:15 – Immediately upon the chick's return, the male, Natalio, arrived and regurgitated food for the chicks before quickly departing.
10:05 – The female, Zica, arrived at the nest and fed the chicks.
11:28:48 – Natalio arrived at the nest and fed the chicks.
13:54:53 – One of the storklets engaged in wing-flapping and jumping exercises.
14:34 – Natalio arrived and fed the chicks. This was likely accompanied by nest watering to keep them cool.
16:22 – Zica arrived and fed the chicks.
20:14 – 20:15 – The second storklet (Chick #2) stood on the edge of the nest, intensively practising wing-flapping and showing a strong desire to fledge.
21:54 - one islets arrived
The observation of a paddle-boarder on the water raised concerns among observers regarding the safety of the nest.
