“In this case, there is a sequence of events that cannot be ignored: a Black Stork tracked by satellite suddenly stopped migrating and was found dead together with four other birds. A shotgun cartridge was found at the site, and the post-mortem examination documented multiple injuries caused by shotgun pellets. The pellets entered the bird’s body and passed through it, causing fractures and extensive bleeding in the brain. The lake near Pîrjota became a common grave for four Eurasian Spoonbills, which suffered the same tragic fate as the Black Stork. This is clearly an environmental crime, and the people responsible must be punished,” SPPN said.
