He works with the nest today- arranging twigs, spreading moss. he also brings new material.

Then he returns to the nest to wait.

Defending the nest against the Intruder. Life is hard for a stork ... Yesterday, Notek "got dumped" by some strange stork with a ring. Today he had an unexpected visit from an unwanted friend (ANDER photo report)

W Święto Pracy długą wizytę Notkowi złożył bocian z obrączką. Trwa odczytywanie numeru. Przez godzinę ptaki były razem, ale nie wszystko poszło dobrze. Notek pięknie przywitał gościa, odbył się rytualny taniec "w kółeczko", jednak samica nie usiadła w dołku gniazdowym. Notek prezentował swój biały wachlarzowaty ogon oraz świetnie zbudowane gniazdo, zachęcał do wysiadywania i doszło nawet do dziwnej próby bezpośredniego kontaktu ptaków (to nie była kopulacja). Prawdopodobnie żaden z nich nie miał jeszcze doświadczenia w "tych sprawach" i skończyło się niczym.

On Labor Day, a stork with a wedding ring paid Notek a long visit. Reading the number in progress. The birds were together for an hour, but not all went well. Notek greeted the guest beautifully, there was a ritual dance "in a circle", but the female did not sit down in the nest hole. Notes presented its white, fan-shaped tail and a well-built nest, encouraged incubation, and there was even a strange attempt of direct contact of birds (it wasn't copulation). Probably neither of them had any experience with "these things" yet and ended up with nothing.

Próby przejęcia pracy wykonanej przez innych zdarzają się nie tylko u ludzi. W świecie zwierząt często już sama groźna postawa i determinacja wystarczy, żeby nie doszło do bezpośredniej walki. Intruz nie odważył się nawet usiąść na gnieździe.

Attempts to take over the work done by others happen not only among people. In the animal world, a threatening attitude and determination alone are often enough to prevent a direct fight from taking place. The intruder did not even dare to sit on the nest.

Kuna złożyła dziś nad ranem wizytę w gnieździe Notka. Poszukiwała jaj albo piskląt. Z nagrań z fotopułapek założonych w ramach projektu BocianiMy w Lasach przy ponad 80 gniazdach bocianów w całej Polsce wiemy, że bardzo rzadko dochodzi do bezpośredniej walki między bocianami a kunami. Najczęściej kuny rezygnują, ponieważ czują respekt przed bardzo skutecznym dziobem bocianów.

Marten paid a visit to Notka's nest this morning. She was looking for eggs or chicks. We know from the recordings from camera traps established as part of the Storks in Forests project at over 80 stork nests all over Poland, we know that there is very rarely a direct fight between storks and martens. Most often, martens give up because they respect the very effective beak of storks.
