Hello and good morning!

03.33 Short aeration break. It's raining a little.

04.21 Karl is covered with raindrops


04.24 Next short break.

04.54 Next short break- KAIA arrives silently, she almost startles Karl.

Kaia goes to check on the nest. She saw #3 too and touched it with her bill.
Kaia pecks some moss and aerates, then covers the chicks.

05.23 Short break- Kaia only changed her position.

05.45 Kaia stands up, chicks are twittering and waiting for their breakfast.
No feeding this time.


05.47 Karl brought fresh material


05.53 Karl brought a twig.

Kaia stands up..and ofcourse they place the moss in front of the camera


Chicks are twittering, Kaia gets into feeding position.
Unfortunately chicks aren't good visible..

Kaia attemts to regurgitate, nothing comes out


06.01 Karl is back with a twig


Kaia continues the feeding attempt

06.02 FEEDING (1) Only a very small amount of food. Only #1 and #2 are near the food and get something from it.
Kaia starts to eat back the few bits quite fast, she doesn't let the chicks enoy a good breakfast for a long time..
Interestingly, Karl is right there and he looks at the feeding, whistling and saying something...


Karl has something to say about this..


Karl flies out.
Kaia makes a PS-small. She tries to regurgitate some more food- but nothing.

Karl is back with some hay.

I think that Kaia flew to the nest straightfrom her resting place- she didn't search for food before and that's why she cme with an emty crop.

Such a nice bonding moment

06.16 Kaia gets enough and she stands up.
Karl flies away
Kaia covers the chicks again.

07.05 Karl is back with some hay.


Kaia stands up and walks away, she is whistling and talking with Karl. I think Kaia doesn't want Karl to take over the nest duty yet- she scolds him and makes Karl fly away.


Chicks are twittering and expecting food, but Kaia covers them.
