05.14 Seems like the chicks are starting to get used to each other and the stress level is beginning do go down..they are sleeping side by side




JJ likes to pose in front of the camera

08.32 FIRST MEETING! Kaia arrives. JJ is defending! Kaia is shocked.






I think that Kaia isn't prepared that when arriving to the nest she gets greeted with a growl and a clattering bill..
It's understandable in JJ's part- Kaia is still a stranger to him.

Kaia takes this reaction calmly. She isn't agressive, just surprised- maybe she doesn't know how to act...

[Madli]

08.32 Feeding (1) by Kaia. As soon as kaia starts to offer food, JJ goes to join the rest of the begging chicks, but it doesn't beg for food.




JJ tries to attack Kaia He4 is still very confused and stressed..

[Madli]

Kaia steps away- JJ is chirping like it's begging for water.


08.35 Kaia leaves. JJ is defending.

[Madli]

08.38 Kaia brings a twig. JJ is very strongly defending.




Kaia must be so confused by this behavior that she just leaves the twig lying around and doesn't arrange it into place

[Madli]

Kaia goes on the curved branch. JJ is chirping again.


08.40 Kaia leaves. JJ is clattering his bill.

[Madli]

08.44 Kaia brings a piece of grass and water. As usual, she gets greeted by a defending JJ.

[Madli]

08.48 Kaia stands on the curved branch.
The other chicks are active, JJ is lying down and is silently chirping.

[Madli]

09.57 Karl arrives. JJ sees another stranger and defends. Kaia and Karl greet eachother, then Kaia leaves.




JJ calms down and starts begging like the other chicks.

[Madli]

09.59 Feeding (2). Seems like all the chicks eat. Karl leaves after the feeding.




Something happened to the camera again. It's darker.

Now the first shock of meeting the new parents is over. JJ can relax now and think about life
