15.58 Kaia takes care of the nest and the chicks.
#3 is chirping.

#3 is almost half the size smaller as the bigger ones...


16.51 Next break for preening the chicks, stretching and everything else. The chicks are calm.
After Kaia is done with all that..the chicks are ready to eat.

17.05 FEEDING (9) Kaia regurgitates a pile of already very soft food. All eat! #3 gets a lot! They destroy the pile within seconds, Kaia hasn't got much to eat back


Kaia preens the little ones again, everyone is full and happy.

18.18 Sleeping with Mom

I love these moments but it isn't dinner time yet..

19.20 Chicks are already chirping under kaia's belly. She stands up. The chicks are moving to the table..Kaia doesn't feed yet.
After a while, they try again..

19.37 FEEDING (10) Kaia has only a very small piece of food left. #1 and #2 eat it. #3 is too slow this time..maybe it gets 1 bite...


They are chirping for more.

19.56 Karl is home! Kaia greets him and leaves. Karl's belly is wet.
Kaia's nest duty was 5 h 5 min.

Karl gets into the feeding position..

19.58 FEEDING (11) Karl brought little fish and something other small..All eat with a good appetite! And they all got a good dinner too with a nice full crop.




20.55 Karl takes a break and arranges some twigs..the chicks think it's time for eating again


Karl preens them a little and covers them.

someone is always chirping under the paren't belly...I think it's #3...he is a very loud chick

Now is time for sleep...

And one more notice for today:

As the older chicks are 7 days old today, I see that the natal down feather coat is already changing into the permanent down coat. ( the little "goose bumps" are the places where new feathers come)

Thank you Marika...I'm trying to keep myself occupied with other things so that I don't worry about the Jõgeva nest so much. But it's hard...

Yes, right now everything is good here, little #3 is growing and getting stronger. It is a smart and agile little fighter- always fast to get to the table and a loud one- always chirping

Btw..if you find things in Jõgeva nest too overwhelming, I'd be glad if you want to take your mind off it and help here a little..or when the "Plan B" should come to action...

Fingers crossed ! I wish no more deaths this season..or ever..
