Yesterday's reception of a young black stork🐧🔊.
He was walking in a field near Jehnědno where he was spotted by people walking their dog. He didn't fly away from them, so we went there right away. I caught up with him in the field in the woods, he's very skinny and not at all sure if he's going to make it.. So keep your fingers crossed for him, it would be a shame

Mladý čáp černý stále odmítá jíst.., musíme ho krmit 3x denně sondou přímo do zobáku. Doufám, že brzy dostane rozum a zkusí i nějaké rybky🐟🐟.

The young black stork still refuses to eat..., we have to feed him 3 times a day with a tube directly into his beak. I hope he will soon come to his senses and try some fish🐟🐟

Po 10 dnech krmení sondou do zobáku se černý čáp konečně poprvé najedl🙏🙂. Sice slupnul jen pár rybek, ale snad ho to nepřejde. Tak mu držte palce, ať baští🙂.

After 10 days of feeding with a tube in his bill, the black stork finally ate for the first time🙏🙂🙂🙂 . He only ate a few fish, but hopefully he won't get over it. So keep your fingers crossed for him to keep eating🙂 .

stork was found very, very weakened and is now in the Rescue Station Makov (CZ)
- the stork's left leg is not fine (the ornithological ring is down)
- Mr. Šejna made an assumption of an inborn or developmental defect

- I asked and Mr. František Pojar answered:
na hnízdě nebyl pozorován žádný defektní jedinec, kovový kroužek byl umístěn nad prsty u všech 4 mláďat
no defective individual was observed on the nest, a metal ring was placed above the toes of all 4 chicks

I assume that there was an injury and this is what caused the stork to be unable to find and/or catch food after fledging the nest

newest screenshots by me are here:
