- the edge of the nest is a good trampoline, but it's easy to miss landing - but our storklet made it through without any problems

Hi Maria,
big thank to you for this documentation.
I really would like to believe that Natalio put water in the storklet's bill. I didn't see water being put into the bill. But my eyes are not the eyes of an eagle.
When I was directly observing the nest, I could still hear the thirsty chap chap. And the chick almost always reached for Natalio's bill.

WATERING
by Natalio
12.05.17 in - 12.05.32 N. out
storklet chirped again already some minutes before
N. poured some of the water on the chick and released some into the river before flying away
still the thirsty chap chap sound

continuation:
12.15.02 N. is there again - 12.19.29 N. out
I see neither water nor food. Chick is still asking for water.

12.20.43 N. is landing - 12.22.44 N. out again
they stood with their backs to the camera - I couldn't see anything, but the chick was still demanding water

12.25.26 in - 12.33.07 out
I don't know if Natalio managed to put water directly into chick's bill
storklet keeps begging for water and is touching N. bill repeatedly

17:34:21 we see a bird in the water - a white head, impressively flapping its wings to get out of the water and onto the shore (unfortunately we don't see it in the camera shot)
B1C3 and Andrés Alfaro confirmed my opinion - we saw griffon vulture (Gyps fulvus).

Griffon vultures can end up in water, usually by accident (e.g., during migration, forced down by winds or harassment - e.g. gulls).
Let's hope this one made it to shore. It was waving impressively.

Andrés Alfaro:
Several nest in that area; just look at the feathers the storks bring. Sometimes inexperienced chicks fall into the water on their first flights.
Scenes like this are common in other parts of Spain, like Monfragüe.
It needs to reach a wide bank, even if it can climb out onto a ledge. To fly again, it has to take off with a little more height or run-up, otherwise it will fall again.
But yes, this is a 100% griffon vulture. It's clearly visible. 👍🏻
