Re: Pärnu county (Kergu + Kerli)
Short history of previous seasons
Season 2025 viewtopic.php?f=156&t=274
three chicks sucesfully fledge, unfortunately Tootsi and Vihm died in the autumn; Iksi is wintering in Greece - still there viewtopic.php?f=190&t=351
Season 2024 viewtopic.php?p=26392#p26392
to the end of the season one young female named Kerli visited the nest repeatedly, hopefully they will be a successfully new pair in the next season
Season 2023 viewtopic.php?p=12634#p12634
Kergu stayed alone. The nest was visited from time to time by Nurme (stork with a transmitter) and the camera also recorded other black storks on the nest and in its close vicinity (also a pair of storks)
Season 2022 (no streaming)
3 chicks were successfully raised in the nest. They were in good condition (on 7th July all weighed over 3 kg) and all fledged. The chicks were ringed, but didn't receive any transmitters.
Nest was found in late breeding season with three chicks in nest, these were ringed. The male Kergu has been caught in late July, when chicks in nest almost fledged. But Kergu visited nest also after installing a tracker on his back. Kergu left for migration in Aug 12th.

On 10.06.2025 the Sopi-Tootsi Green Energy Area was officially opened in Põhja-Pärnumaa, on the site of a former peat field in Tootsi in the vicinity the nest. Kerli often searched for food in this area in season 2025.

NEST
the newest photo (22.03.2026)

RESIDENTS
MALE KERGU himself was ringed as a chick in 2011 by Raivo Endrekson about 8-9 km away from the current nest location. He was caught and fitted with a transmitter in 2022. This was somewhat a special event because no previously ringed adult had been caught yet.
Kergu Nature Reserve: The area of the nature reserve is 437 ha.The protected area was founded in 2007 to protect valuable habitat types and threatened species in Metsaküla and Sohlu village (both in former Kaisma Parish) and in Viluvere village (Vändra Parish). (wiki https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kergu_Nature_Reserve)
FEMALE KERLI
birdmap description (2024): A young female Black Stork, which was caught in Pärnumaa County, as part of the Black Stork survey of the Tootsi-Sop wind farm. Survey was ordered by Enefit Green company.
our Madli (the godmother):Kerli is a nice Estonian woman's name. The name Kerli means "light" or "gentle." It is a shortened form of name from the name Kertu, which in turn comes from the name Gertrud, which means "protection" or "strongness." Kerli is a lovely and elegant name associated with being gentle and light. https://www.name-days.com/now/name/et_ee/ee/kerli This name matches perfectly with our Kerli's personality and it matches nicely with Kergu.

Re: Pärnu county (Kergu + Kerli)
The live‑cam nest had sunk a little and needed fixing. The camera angle was also raised slightly to get a better view of what’s happening on the branches next to the nest.

The first Black Stork was seen on its own nest in Estonia this year.
