Hello everyone :-)

some information about the Suğla Lake
- the lake is mentioned as one Bird watching area (Bird watching is an observing sport that allows getting to know nature from the world of birds. The total number of bird species in Turkey is equal to the number of bird species found in the whole of Europe. The most important reasons why our country is rich in birds are that it has rich wetlands and is on bird migration routes. Bird watching in Turkey has been spreading rapidly in recent years in parallel with the developments in the world.)
- Suğla Lake is one of these areas in Konya Closed Basin (https://yigm.ktb.gov.tr/TR-10290/konya- ... vzasi.html)

Project topic
Suğla Lake was an important freshwater lake connected to Seydişehir and Yalıhüyük districts in the south-west of Konya province. It was a tectonic lake. In rainy years, its area expanded, and in dry years, the lake dries up and the alluvial lake bottom emerges, creating a good agricultural area. Since 1900, it has been serving the B.S.A (Beyşehir-Suğla-Apa) canal. However, in 1996, D.S.İ decided drying up a part of the lake for agriculture and transforming the lake into a reservoir to store water. With the transformation, its natural structure was deteriorated and the existing biological diversity in the area has been destroyed.

Image

Reasons for the Project
In fact, the area still hosts a rich biodiversity. In addition to bird species such as Black Stork, Gray Heron, Egret, Stork, Little Stint, Crested Grebe, Ringed Plover, Long-legged Buzzard, Kingfisher and Kestrel, there are also giant spring minnow or Anatolian minnow (Pseudophoxinus anatolicus) an endemic and endangered species on a world scale. However, the area does not have any conservation status. In the villages of Seydişehir and Yalıhüyük districts, intensive agricultural activities are carried out around the lake and fishing. There is also a serious hunting pressure on the area. Storks, black storks, gray herons, egrets and their flocks that stay in the area during migration periods are among the creatures that have the most share of this pressure. Despite all the pressures and serious deterioration in its natural structure, the area and its inhabitants are trying to survive. In order to protect this area, it is necessary to explain the area and its importance to the people living in the region and to the entire public.

Project Activities:
• Video and photo shoots of the biodiversity of the area • Video and photo shoots of agriculture and livestock activities, especially fishing, carried out in the area • Production of a documentary film as a result of the studies carried out in the field. • Continuous screening of the documentary film on local TVs.

“Random”
A documentary film was created with the visual materials obtained as a result of the studies carried out within the scope of the project. In the documentary, a day spent in the lake by a man who lives in that region and whose hobby is fishing, and the changes in the lake with the description of the fisherman, the biological diversity in the area, and the activities carried out around the lake are told. The movie, which was completed in December 2005, started to be shown on local TVs as of January 2006 and CD copies of the movie were distributed to the interested parties.

Bonus has one longer path-line (triangle "trip) too. Our juvenile stork flew to the south (fields with melioration canals to the west from the Çiftlik village/Çiftlikköy). Than the line continues to the east (near the Bademli village) and back to the north to Bonus's favourite place = in the arch of Beyşehir Channel on the fields with melioration canals to the west from the village Başkaraören.

more later (maybe only in the evening - done)
