10.51 Kaia begins to listen and observe something . A minute later I can hear a machine, but that is probably not related to this situation..


10.52 Someone is near the nest? Kaia keeps looking in that direction for several minutes.

11.33 What a hot day for the storks! Kaia is banting..

15.20 An airplane flies in the sky and makes a very loud noise. Even Kaia listenes with increased attention. ( maybe some military aircrafts due to the ongoing military excercise SIIL 2022)



15.22 Two small birds fly on the trees behing the nest. Kaia feels a little sceptic about them..


15.24 The aircraft noise is very loud now! The noise comes and goes, as if the aircraft is flying circles, going closer and farther..Kaia looks up occasionally, she looks a little confused.

17.21 Karl arrives! Kaia gives him a short greeting and stands up. A smooth exchange on the incubation.
Kaia's incubation shift was 9 h 30 min.



17.22 Kaia leaves. Karl continues incubation.

17.23 A wing beating sound is heard and a shadow flies over the forest very fast from left to right. It's probably Kaia.

It's a warm night in the nest for Karl- his bill is open.


And this golden evening light is absolutely gorgeous!

22.32 The local Ural Owl is awake and hooting. Karl, as always, reacts to this with danger signals.


Actually, I think there might be two owls- a male and a female?

22.34 Karl reacts stronger, he erects his feathers, stretches out his neck and makes a few whistling sounds. The owl flew nearby. Karl is very alert. The owl starts hooting nearer to the nest.
