HATCH: 1st chick - 24.05/4 days old ; 2nd chick - 25.05/3 days; 3rd chick/1 day

EGGS laying (before or after midnight)
4th: 26./27.04 (31d)

- hatching: after 30 - 38 days depending on the conditions
- baby bird chirps from inside the egg usually on the last 2 days

Hello.

08.57 KERGU arrives and switches with Kerli.



08.58 FEEDING (1) A nice pile og smaller fish. Older chicks eat a lot, 3rd one is behind themj and manages to eat a few fish at the end of the feeding.



Kergu covers the chicks.
It's starts to drizzle some rain.

09.29 FEEDING (2) Kergu offers a private feeding for the smallest one while bigger siblings are resting. Kergu is very patient and lets the little one finish eating

10.30 FEEDING (3) All 3 eat.
11.49 Kergu good PS

Kergu takes the pose to feed the chicks, but the smallest one is facing the other way. Kergu is patientlly waiting.
He tries to regurgitate a few times, but with difficulties.

11.49 FEEDING (4) He manages to regurgitate one small, soft pile of digested food. Looks like chick no.2 only ate.

12.37 One chick ventures a little too far from the safe bowl of the nest It tries to peck an old egg shell.

Kergu has no more food to offer and there is no feeding.

13.36 Feeding attempt. Kergu's crop is emty.
But instead, Kerli arrives at 13.37! They exchange greetings and Kergu flies away.


13.38 FEEDING(5) Kerli brought frogs.


14.09 FEEDING (6) Frogs. 1. 2 eat the most. 3 is behind bigger ones, manages to eat something.

15.06 Weather is finally sunny again. Kerly is drying hew feather and little ones are taking a sun bath.

16.15 Kergu is back! Kerli flies away.
He doesn't immediately feed the chicks. They are still napping in fresh air.
Instead it seems to me that they feel fot and are begging for water. Kergu covers them.

16.53 Kergu tries to regurgitate something, without success.
Little chick are actually hot and are banting in the sun with open mouths!


17.18 FEEDING(7) Kergu regurgitates several smaller piles of fish and one larger fish. All 3 eat.

I just noticed that I have seen Kerli and Kergu aerating the nest and such, but I haven't seen them roll the egg or pay any other attention to it. I also can't remember any egg talk. Could it be that the 4th egg is not viable It has been "cooking" on the sun basically the whole day.

19.16 FEEDING (8) There is still a lot of fish for the chicks. 1 and 2 eat, 3 starts to eat sibling's wing, but manages to get to the fish when others are already full and gets to eat a lot!

20.51 Kerli arrives.


Chicks are very calm and not begging for food. They are already tired. Kerli tries to provoke them a little by touching them with her bill. They are still not bothered by it. Kerli is probably prepared to feed them.

20.56 Chicks finally start begging. Kerli leans over to feeding position. FEEDING(9). A pile of fish. 1 and 3 eat, seems that 2 is still too full from the last feeding by Kergu.
