Bociany to ptaki o dużej rozpiętości skrzydeł i potrzebują trochę czasu i miejsca, żeby nauczyć się prawidłowo manewrować między drzewami. Jak widać ocena odległości podczas lądowania na gnieździe także może przysparzać sporo problemów. Dlatego jeden z boćków po upadku pod drzewem gniazdowym prawdopodobnie spędził noc na ziemi. Na szczęście następnego dnia rano wrócił i młode są już w komplecie.

Bociany to ptaki o dużej rozpiętości skrzydeł i potrzebują trochę czasu i miejsca, żeby nauczyć się prawidłowo manewrować między drzewami. Długie i szerokie skrzydła umożliwiają bocianom łatwy start z gniazda. Ptaki są stosunkowo lekkie (około 3 kg) i powstaje dobra siła nośna pod ich dużymi skrzydłami. Jednak manewrowanie pomiędzy gałęziami drzew w lesie, a zwłaszcza lądowanie na gnieździe nie jest łatwe i wymaga treningu. Dlatego młode bociany w wieku po 65 dniu życia poświęcają na nabycie tych umiejętności około 2 tygodnie. Z przeprowadzonych badań za pomocą loggerów gps-gsm wynika, że nawet ponad 80-90% lokalizacji usamodzielniających się młodych znajduje się w promieniu do 50-100 m od gniazda. Umożliwia im to natychmiastowy powrót do gniazda, które pełni rolę "stołówki" i miejsca podtrzymywania więzi rodzinnych. Ponieważ bociany mają bardzo długie nogi podczas lądowania muszą odpowiednio wcześniej wyciągnąć je do przodu i jednocześnie skontrować prędkość za pomocą skrzydeł. Jak widać na nagraniu w pierwszych dniach nauki latania nie jest to takie proste.

Research conducted using GPS-GSM loggers shows that over 80-90% of the locations of fledglings are within a 50-100 m radius of the nest. This allows them to immediately return to the nest, which serves as a "dining room" and a place for maintaining family bonds. Because storks have very long legs, they must extend them forward well in advance when landing, simultaneously countering their speed with their wings. As you can see in the recording, in the first days of learning to fly it is not that easy.
